Executive Committee Minutes

January 8, 2008


The Republican Executive committee met in regular session Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Senior Citizen Center at 6:30 pm.

A quorum was present (consisting of Stuart Law, Diane Hickman, Jean Kilgore, Mike Sutherland, Penny Lewis, Scarlet Taylor, Bernadette Polansky, Margaret Polansky, Darlene Collins, Murl Bailey, Nathan Cook, Martha West, Bill Giesenschlag, Don Cook, and Caressa Inman) as County Chairman Don Cook called the meeting to order and   immediately recessed the meeting in order for Bill Giesenschlag to preside over the ballot draw.  The results of which are accompanied with these minutes.  After the draw, the meeting was adjourned for refreshments.

After the meeting was reconvened, the minutes of August 29, 2007 were approved on motion as corrected.

Bill Giesenschlag gave an oral treasurer's report in the absence of Joyce Floeck to wit:

This report was approved on motion.

Martha West distributed a Calendar of Events for the county Republicans with thanks.

Bill Giesenschlag moved to vacate Headquarters at 106 North Main, Caldwell due to the condition of the facility and the increase in rent.  Jean Kilgore seconded and after discussion, motion carried.  The secretary will submit a letter of our intention to vacate building.

Meet the Candidates Coffee will be held at the Kricher House February 5 from 4-6 pm.  Bernadette and Margaret Polansky will furnish their kolaches with Martha West and Caressa Inman tending to the drinks and etc.  Bill G. will contact the candidates, there will be two ads in the paper, and Stuart Law will work on banner information for Channel 12.

Precinct Chairs were asked about their election judges and clerks.  They were reminded to post a sign at the voting location promoting the precinct convention.  Don Cook also suggested getting officers and delegates lined up for the convention before Election Day.

February 7 is the deadline for the next Stampede.

Spring Fling is set for April 19 with a time change to 11:30am to 4 pm.

Chairman Cook thanked Margaret Haisler and the Senior Citizen Center for letting us use their building.  Bill G. moved to make a $100.00 donation to the Center and with a second from Bernie Polansky, motion passed.

Bill G. also gave a brief notation of the advancement of Republicans in Burleson County and thanked Murl Bailey and Darlene Collins for their donation to the Burleson County GOP.

Murl Bailey moved to adjourn and with no other business before the Committee, Chairman Don Cook closed the meeting.
