Welcome to the 2010
Burleson County Republican Primary!
Republicans are again attracting
a great slate of talent for
Burleson
County, Texas, and America! We salute them not only their
qualifications, but also
for
their willingness to give the time, energy, and dedication necessary to
run
for public office!
NOTE:
Local Republican officials must be doing their jobs pretty well.
We don't
have any of that fancy polling data, but when ALL of the local
Republican incumbents are
unopposed in both the Primary and General Election, one might get the
idea that folks are pretty happy with the way things are going.
Now
we just need to achieve as good success in Austin and Washington, DC!
There
are another ELEVEN
Republican
incumbents which are unopposed in the Republican Primary, but who will
have opposition during the general election. That leaves only
eight contested races to be voted on in the Primary Election. But
they
are important races: US
Congressman - District 10, US
Congressman - District 17, Govenor, State Senator, Board of Education Member,
Railroad Commissioner, Supreme Court, and
the 10th Court of Appeals.
All offices up for election with
Republican candidates are
shown in the list below. Candidates are listed in the same order
that they will appear on Burleson County Republican Primary ballots.
There are five Republican Party
of Texas Propositions being voted on in this year's primary. You
can click here to jump directly to them
(they are at the bottom of the

Propositions
Texas
Republicans are being asked to vote "Yes"
or "No" on five propositions this year. The results will
assist the
Republican Party, candidates, and elected officials in crafting future
laws and policies:
Proposition
#1: Photo ID: The
Texas
legislature should make it a priority to protect the integrity of our
election process by enacting legislation that requires voters to
provide valid photo identification in order to cast a ballot in any and
all elections conducted in the State of Texas.
Proposition
#2 - Controlling
Government Growth: Every
government body in Texas should be required to limit any annual
increase in its budget and spending to the combined increase of
population and inflation unless it first gets voter approval to exceed
the allowed annual growth or in the case of an official
emergency.
Proposition #3:
Cutting Federal Income Taxes: In addition
to
aggressively eliminating irresponsible federal spending,
Congress should empower American citizens to stimulate the economy by
Congress cutting federal income taxes for all federal taxpayers, rather
than spending hundreds of billions of dollars on so-called “federal
economic stimulus”.
Ballot Proposition
#4: Public Acknowledgement of God:
The use of the word
“God”, prayers, and the Ten Commandments should be
allowed at public gatherings and public educational institutions, as
well as be permitted on government buildings and property.
